Codeathon Terms And Conditions

  1. These Terms and Conditions ("T&C"), as amended from time to time are the complete and exclusive statements of understanding between HT Media Limited and its affiliate(s) ("HTML") & the Participant/Users (through Parent/Legal guardian/School) and shall enroll for the course on HT Codeathon (hereinafter referred to as the "Program") and to participate in HT Code-a-thon Qualifier and Finale (hereinafter referred to as "Olympiad"). It supersedes all other prior understanding, whether oral or written. All representation or other communications between the HTML & the Participant amounts to acceptance of these terms & conditions.
  1. HTML is offering a premium course in Coding ("Program") and a Coding Olympiad ("Olympiad") for the students of VI to IX Grade. The User/Participants may enroll either directly or through the respective schools.
  1. Age of the Participant: A Participant must be within 16 years of age in order to be eligible for competing in the Olympiad. HTML reserves the right to disqualify Participants for any misrepresentation or otherwise.
  1. HTML shall provide an online platform for enrolling into the Program and participating in the Olympiad to the Users/Participants. All registration and payment procedures shall be in accordance with the terms and conditions herein, as may be amended from time to time and/or any other communication as shared by HTML from time to time.
  1. By enrolling into the Program and/or participating in the Olympiad, a Participant unconditionally and irrevocably accepts and agrees to be bound by all these terms and conditions as stated herein. This Olympiad is subject to the laws of India, and is not offered outside of India.
  1. HTML shall not be responsible for any Participant enrolling into the Program and/or entering the Olympiad unlawfully or otherwise in breach of any applicable laws.
  1. HTML reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to terminate or disqualify any Participant’s enrollment/participation to the Program and/or the Olympiad or reclaim the prize at any time if it is the opinion of HTML that there has been a breach of any of the Terms by such Participant (whether discovered during or after the end of the Olympiad).
  1. All the contents and material of the Program and the Olympiad is an Intellectual Property of HTML and the User/Participant shall have no right over the same.
  1. Any commercial use of the content of the Program and the Olympiad is strictly prohibited and shall be punishable under applicable laws.
  1. The Registration Process is as follows Registration Process: Registrations may be done by Individual Users or Bulk registrations can be done through schools. Individual Registration
    • User shall visit www.htcodeathon.com or https://htschool.hindustantimes.com/
    • User shall create an account either for himself/herself or for the prospective Participant.
    • User will sign up with personal details such as Name, Email id, Contact Number, School Details and Photo or any other details as may be required. Digital copy of the School ID card as a proof of identity is mandatory.
    • Post successful signup, the User/Participant will be directed to the payment page where payment can be made using debit/credit card, net banking, UPI, digital wallets etc
    • If a parent wishes to register more than one user, the Parent can use the same email id and contact number for other user registration. Based on a Participant’s Grade/Class, the respective Program will be assigned automatically.
    • The Participant will be earning points at every step of the registration process and payment
    • Once the payment has been realized by HTML, access to the program shall be granted to Participant.
    • The access to the Program through the Account to the Participant shall be granted for a period of 06 months from the date of registration.
      Bulk Registrations Bulk Registration can be done for schools opting for the same through the following process:
    • The schools will share the following details in an excel file:
      • Participant’s Name
      • Participant’s DOB
      • Parent's Email
      • Parent's Phone Number
      • School Name
      • Standard/Grade
      • Section
    • The school may opt for the following modes of payment.
      • Online payment via link
      • Demand Draft in favor of HT Media Limited
      • Bank Transfer through NEFT/RTGS
    • The invoice will be shared to the school with the total amount along with the number of Participants.
    • Participants will log in using the registered email id.
    • Every time the student wishes to log in, an OTP will be sent to the registered email id which can be used to log in.
    • Based on a Participant’s Grade/Class, the respective Program will be assigned automatically.
    • The Participant will be earning points at every step of the registration process and payment.
      NOTE
    • Registration Fee for each Participant for the entire Program shall be INR 499/- + applicable taxes.
    • HTML reserves the right to disqualify Participants for misrepresenting their school/class details.
  2. Participant Dashboard
    • After registration, the Participants will be taken to their respective dashboards where they can find all the various details regarding their respective Program modules, Qualifiers and Finale.
    • Details about the following can be referred to on the dashboard:
      • Details about the scoring and the point system
      • Details about the course videos, session quizzes, and qualifiers
      • Details about qualification and the scoring process for the Finale

      • Leadership Board
  3. Details of the Program are as follows: Program Details:
    • One of India’s Biggest Coding Olympiad
    • Training Course is focused on learning modules followed by Online Qualifiers and Finale as per the discretion of HTML. 20–24-hour self-paced online course on coding via online videos.
    • Multiple activities to test Participant's progress viz. Quiz, Assessment, and Final Project.
    • Customized course for Participants from 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th Grade.
    • Category 1: Scratch (Games and Animation)
    • Category 2: App Design
    • Category 3: Web Development
    • Category 4: Unity Game Development
    • Category 5: Python
    • Category 6: Python with AI
      Program Content
    • The Program content will comprise the following elements:
      • Multiple Sessions
      • Video Content: These will be self-paced learning modules
      • Session Quizzes: These will appear after every 3 to 6 video sessions
      • Course Quiz: This will appear at the end of the course
    • All videos, session quizzes are unsurpassable
    • Completion of all of the videos and session quizzes is necessary for eligibility for the Code-a-thon Qualifiers
    • There are points awarded on completion of every Video and Session Quiz
    • The Participant will be ranked on the acquired points during the course of the Program
      Olympiad Progression Qualifiers
    • To reach the Qualifier, a Participant needs to complete all the sessions and quizzes.
    • The Participant needs to pass the Course Quiz with a minimum of 60% or above. The Participant get two chances to earn points on completing the session quizzes. No points can be earned for completing the quiz on a third or beyond (s) attempt.
    • Qualifiers will be held online and there will be one attempt available to the Participants.
    • The outcome of the Qualifiers will be published on the Participant’s Dashboard, and a separate email shall be sent to the Participants. A digital certificate of participation shall be issued to each Participant.
      Finale Qualifiers
    • The Finale will take place at Delhi or Mumbai or online. The venue shall be communicated to the top 100 students of 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Grade.
    • The Finale will take place online. Participants will be notified well in advance. The top 100 students from each grade will advance to the Finale from the Qualifier stage.
    • Points earned/acquired during the entire Program will be taken into account for a Participant to qualify for the Code-a-thon Finale.
    • The finalists will be chosen based on the overall performance and points collected till the end of the Qualifier.
    • The outcome of the Finale will be published on the website and emails will be sent to the Participants.
  4. Outcome of the Olympiad shall be final and binding, and any challenge to the same shall not be entertained.
  5. Details of Prize to be awarded to the Winners of the Olympiad:
    • Prizes over INR 5 lakh
    • Exact details of prizes won will be updated on the homepage
  6. HTML reserves the right to amend/replace the Prize(s) to be distributed to the Winners. No objection in this regard shall be entertained.
  7. Any travelling and/or lodging cost associated with participation in the Olympiad or enrolling in the Program shall be solely borne by the Participant.
  8. HTML reserves the right to postpone the Olympiad or withdraw or amend the terms and conditions of the Olympiad as it may deem necessary or fit.
  9. Children of HTML employees or any of its Group Companies’ employees may participate in the Olympiad. However, if they participate, they won’t be able to claim the prizes under the Olympiad.
  10. The prizes for the Olympiad will be given to the winner as set out in the Terms. The winner must accept his/her prize in that form. Prizes are non-negotiable, non-transferable, non-refundable and not exchangeable for cash credit or kind, either in part or in full except at the sole and absolute discretion of the HTML.
  11. HTML reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to deal with any unclaimed prizes in any manner.
  12. HTML shall not be liable in any way for any failure or breach by any party in connection with the Olympiad, prize or prizes and accepts no responsibility for any loss suffered by a participant arising from the Olympiad, prize or prizes.
  13. Any winner of the Olympiad may, at no cost to HTML, be requested to participate in public relations events tied to the campaign to generate press coverage of the Olympiad. This may include, but not be limited to, quotes given for inclusion in press releases and press conferences, interviews, etc.
  14. By participating in the Olympiad, the Participant allows: (a) the usage of their photos, name, quotes and/or likeness, without compensation, for HTML promotional and marketing purposes; and (b) to use their answers to the Olympiad questions, without compensation, for HTML’s promotional and marketing purposes, either directly or through any third party.
  15. Any attempt by a Participant to deliberately damage or undermine the legitimate operation of the Olympiad is a violation of Criminal and Civil Laws and should such an attempt be made, HTML reserves its right to seek damages from any such Participant to the fullest extent as permitted by law.
  16. Any content created by any Participant during the Program or the Olympiad shall be the sole proprietary of HTML. The Participant hereby agrees to assist in transfer of all/any right that accrues to the participant due to the creation of the content under the applicable law. Such transfer shall be without any compensation and/or future royalties (if any).
  17. All entries will be treated as the property of HTML only and can be used by HTML (or any third party authorized by HTML in this regard) for any promotional and / or commercial activity & the participants/winners waive all rights of whatsoever nature in the said entries in favour of HTML by participating in the Olympiad.
  18. Winners may be required by HTML to participate in a photo, video and/or film session and acknowledge that HTML has the absolute and exclusive right to use such photos, videos and/or films in any medium and in any reasonable manner it may deem fit for publicity without any consideration or payment of similar nature to such participants/winners.
  19. HTML in its absolute discretion may publicize, broadcast or otherwise disclose a participant's/winner's name, character, likeness, statements, or any recording of their voice in advertising or promotional activities concerning this Olympiad, or generally. HTML may promote or advertise that a winner has won the Olympiad.
  20. HTML, and/or its subsidiaries, offices and representatives shall not be liable to any person or entity for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages, including loss of profits, incurred by the winner or any third party, whether in connection with this Olympiad, or for breach of any warranty or in tort.
  21. Participant/User agrees to indemnify HTML, its agents, employees, representatives, associates, affiliates, parent and subsidiary companies against any and all claim, losses, costs, damages, liability and expenses arising out of the Participant’s breach of any of the T&C or arising out of or in connection with their entries to the Olympiad.
  22. Participant, by entering the Olympiad, expressly releases HTML from any claim, action or demand arising out of or in connection with the Olympiad or their prize, if any.
  23. HTML shall not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of any Participant’s information. This will include but not limited to technical malfunctions, human or technical error, seeding or printing errors, lost or delayed or garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of any telephone or computer line or network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof.
  24. The laws of the India shall govern these T&C. The courts of Delhi will have exclusive jurisdiction in case of any dispute arising under the Terms and Conditions herein.
  25. Any provision of the T&C that is prohibited or unenforceable in any jurisdiction shall ineffective as to that jurisdiction to the extent of that prohibition or unenforceability. That does not affect the validity or enforceability of that provision in any other jurisdiction nor invalidate the remaining provisions of the T&C.

  27. HTML shall not be responsible for any loss or damage suffered by the participants while participating in the Olympiad.
  28. Failure by HTML to enforce any of these Terms and Conditions in any instance(s) shall not give rise to any claim by any person.
  29. This Olympiad is being created as a promotional activity for HTML and all goodwill, copyright, moral rights or other intellectual rights associated thereto shall vest exclusively with HTML.
  30. The Olympiad is valid subject to the winner complying with all T&C and/or formalities as required by HTML. Any failure on the part of the Participant to comply with any specified term, condition and/or formality shall render the Participant liable for disqualification at the sole discretion of HTML.
  31. Payments The Platform is a paid service and the payments made by the User registering as a Participant shall be according to the plans opted by the participant through the Platform. All payments by Users shall be through the payment mechanism put in place by HTML. Users shall been various options to choose from and proceed with the payment for the enrollment/participation via payment mechanisms including but not limited to Card Payment facilities, EMI Payment, Online Bank Transfer and Wallet Payment. It is hereby clarified that the payment gateway mechanisms are governed by the terms and conditions of the third party providers as listed on the Platform and the User agrees to be bound by those terms. Valid Credit/Debit/Cash Card/online bank transfers and other payment instruments are processed using a Credit Card payment gateway or appropriate payment system infrastructure and the same will also be governed by the terms agreed to between the Users and the respective issuing bank and payment instrument issuing company. HTML shall not be liable for any unauthorized use, fraud, payment refunds, lost amount etc. in the transaction.
  32. Points System
    • Points will be rewarded for the following interactions on this website:
      • Registrations
      • Payments
      • Referral(s)
      • Daily login
      • Social engagements
      • Quiz completion
      • Video completion
      • Project Submission
    • Points earned/acquired during the entire Program will be taken into account for a Participant to qualify for the Code-a-thon Finale.
    • Details of the point system will be provided to each Participant through the Participant's dashboard.
  33. User Communication: Participants hereby explicitly consent to receiving communication from HTML or representative by email, telephone, WhatsApp or text message for the purposes of providing alerts and information about our services.
  34. User Content: The information, photo, image, chat communication, text, software, data, music, sound, graphics, messages, videos or other materials transmitted, uploaded, posted, emailed or otherwise made available to HTML (“User Content“), are entirely user’s/participant’s responsibility and HTML will not be held responsible, in any manner whatsoever, in connection to the User Content. The User/Participant agrees not to encourage or assist or engage others as well as himself/herself in transmitting, hosting, displaying, uploading, modifying, publishing transmitting, updating or sharing any information that belongs to another person and to which the user does not have any right to. HTML shall in no way be held responsible for examining or evaluating User Content, nor does it assume any responsibility or liability for the User Content. HTML does not endorse or control the User Content transmitted or posted on the Site by the User and therefore, accuracy, integrity or quality of User Content is not guaranteed by HTML. User/Participant understands that by using the Site, he/she may be exposed to User Content that is offensive, indecent or objectionable to him/her. Under no circumstances will HTML be liable in any way for any User Content, including without limitation, for any errors or omissions in any User Content, or for any loss or damage of any kind incurred by him/her as a result of the use of any User Content transmitted, uploaded, posted, e-mailed or otherwise made available via the Site. User hereby waive all rights to any claims against HTML for any alleged or actual infringements of any proprietary rights, rights of privacy and publicity, moral rights, and rights of attribution in connection with User Content.
  35. Account: User/Participant will be responsible for maintaining confidentiality of his/her account, password, and restricting access to his/her computer, and he/she hereby accepts responsibility for all activities that occur under his/her account and password. Participant acknowledges that the information he/she provides, in any manner whatsoever, are not confidential or proprietary and does not infringe any rights of any third party. If a User is accessing, browsing and using the Site on someone else’s behalf; he/she represents that he/she have the authority to bind that person to all the terms and conditions herein. In the event that the person refuses to be bound as the principal to the Terms of Use, he/she agrees to accept liability for any harm caused by any wrongful use of the Site resulting from such access or use of the Site. If a User knows or has reasons to believe that the security of he/her account has been breached, he/she should contact HTML immediately at the Contact Information provided below. If HTML finds a breach or suspects breach of the security of a User’s/Participant’s account, HTML may require the User to change the password, or suspend the account without any liability to HTML.HTML reserves the right to refuse service and/or terminate accounts without prior notice if these Terms of Use are violated or if HTML decides, in HTML’s sole discretion. A User/Participant is solely responsible for all content that he/she uploads, posts, emails or otherwise transmits via the Site. The information provided to HTML shall be maintained by HTML in accordance with HTML’s Privacy Policy.
  36. HTML reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to amend or vary any of these Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice or intimation.
  37. By enrolling into the Program and/or participating in the Olympiad hereby acknowledges and agrees to abide by the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and other policies as may be amended from time to time.
