The Qualifier or the Level 1 exam of Hindustan Olympiad happened in online in both Hindi and English to earn wider participation. It was an hour-long session with 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for a wide variety of topics. For grades 1 to 5, the topics were Maths, Science, English and General Knowledge. The first two had 15 questions each, while the other had 10 questions each. Likewise, students of grades 6 to 10 also have to appear for the same four topics alongside Logical Reasoning. Here, all the sections have 10 questions each.
As for grades 11 and 12, there were three topics, namely: Humanities, Commerce and Science. Students who opted for Humanities had to answer questions from History, Geography, Political Science, English and Logical Reasoning with 10 questions per topic. For Commerce candidates, the topics included: Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, English and Logical Reasoning with 10 questions each. Science on the other hand was divided into two categories: PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) and PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology). English and Logical Reasoning were compulsory for both these categories. As evident, students could either appear for PCM or PCB and never both. Here too, there were 10 questions per topic.
