Indian musician and santoor maestro Pandit Shivkumar Sharma breathed his last on Tuesday afternoon. He was the recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Music (Instrumental – Santoor) as well as all the 3 Padma awards. This is a rare feat in itself. One of the most popular Holi songs of all time, Rang Barse was composed by the Shiv-Hari duo for the Yash Chopra film ‘Silsila.’ The song had introduced prominent Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan as a promising singer. The catchy lyrics of Rang Barse were written by revered poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, who was inspired by a traditional Bhajan by the 15th century mystic poet Meerabai. The music of the song was a unique blend of Rajasthani and Haryanvi folk bhajans.
Mere Haathon Mein Nau Nau Churiyaan

Year: 1989
This song from the movie Chandi album is regarded as one of the biggest commercial hits of the Shiv-Hari duo. The lyrics of this song, sung by the legendary Lata Mangeshkar, have been penned by Anand Bakshi. In fact, it had emerged as the best song of the decade. To celebrate this milestone, Shiv-Hari gifted the world with an instrumental version of the song.
Jaadu Teri Nazar

Considered as one of the most popular romantic songs from the 90s, Jaadu Teri Nazar was a beautiful rendition composed by the Shiv-Hari duo. In fact, the Darr album was the last ever venture of the duo. Sung melodiously by reputed singer Udit Narayan, the lyrics of the song were written by Anand Bakshi.
