The fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) or what we popularly know as IPL 2022 kicked off on 26th March with a lot of firsts. Among them includes the inclusion of two new teams, namely Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants. The other teams include: Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Before the commencement of this year’s IPL, a mega auction was also held in late February in which many young talents from both domestic and international men’s cricket were bought off. The most expensive players in IPL 2022 include, Ishan Kishan (bought by Mumbai Indians for INR 15.25 crores), Deepak Chahar (bought by Chennai Super Kings for INR 14 crores) and Shreyas Iyer (bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 12.25 crores) among others.

The brand-new IPL title sponsor is the Tata group, one of the largest business conglomerates in India. It replaced Vivo, the Chinese mobile manufacturer as IPL’s title sponsor for at least the next two editions. Tata group will be paying INR 670 crores for the next two years.
