2021 was a fantastic year for movie buffs. Moreover, with lockdown easing across the globe, fans had the opportunity to catch their favourite stars in a traditional movie-watching experience. However, 2022 also looks to be a promising year as well, with long-awaited movies already waiting in line. Here are the 5 most-anticipated movies of the year.
The Batman (releasing in March)
Starring Robert Pattinson as Batman, this is the most promising superhero movie release after the gigantic blockbuster of 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Fans can expect an even darker, more broody turn from the previous trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan. The star-packed production will include a lot of detective work and action due to the brutal violence on the infamous streets of Gotham city.
Lightyear (releasing in June)
The Toy Story series had some of the most-loved animated characters and stories of all time. Disney Pixar is now set to release a spin-off of the same, starring one if the most beloved characters, Buzz Lightyear. With promising animation as seen in the trailer and a major nod towards the sci-fi genre, Buzz will surely be taking kids and adults alike on an exciting adventure imminently.
Jurassic World: Dominion (releasing in June)
The Jurassic World franchise is hailed to be one of the best in the business since its release. With both critical and commercial acclaim, it did a mind-blowing job of making the audience’s blood run cold with its impressive graphics and visuals. It plans on doing the same this year with its new release titled Jurassic World: Dominion. Here, dinosaurs will finally be allowed to roam around the earth freely, thus creating an apocalypse for humans.
Mission: Impossible 7 (releasing in September)
Everyone’s favourite action hero and espionage crew will be back later in 2022, with more exploding bridges, helicopter parachuting, dirtbike jumps and other such stunts. Starring Tom Cruise, this blockbuster was delayed due to the pandemic. This will be the seventh edition to the popular franchise.
Avatar 2 (releasing in December)
After more than a decade-long wait, sci-fi fanatics finally will be transported back to the mystical world as seen in Avatar. Director James Cameron has already disclosed some secrets about his masterpiece which involve an underwater element. The massive production is set to carry forward the story of the two protagonists, Jake and Neytiri, and explore their lives as a new family.
