7 things CBSE students must know before the results of Term 1 board exams
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has had quite a month considering the fact that it got involved in back-to-back controversies during the Term I board exams for classes X and XII. While the class X board exams had commenced on 30th November and ended on 16th December, the class XII board exams had begun on 1st December and is scheduled to end on 29th December. With only a few days left for the conclusion of Term 1, CBSE recently declared that it plans to announce the results of both classes X and XII’s Term 1 exams by the first week of January 2022. However, so far, no specific dates have been revealed. Schools had previously been informed that the council will try and publish the results soon after the Term 1 finishes. As per the latest news, CBSE has already started collecting internal exam data alongside preparing the results.
Things to keep in mind before publication of Term 1 results
CBSE students who have appeared for Term 1 exam of both classes X and XII need to be aware of these 7 pointers before their results are published in the new year.
- CBSE has already declared that at present, no student will be declared to have failed. In fact, as per the Council, ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ grades will only be awarded after the conclusion of both Term 1 and Term 2 exams and after assessing students’ overall performance.
- According to CBSE’s previous notification, Term 1 of the board exams will hold a minimum weightage of 50 per cent in the final marksheet. Having said that, the Council has also stated that the ratio may vary depending on the mode of the Term 2 exam.
- The Term 1 result, scheduled to be declared in January 2022, will be the combined marks from the offline MCQ based official Term 1 exam and the respective school’s internal assessments.
- Students who have unfortunately missed any or all of the Term 1 exams will be marked absent for those particular days and will be awarded average marks at this point.
- CBSE will allot marks to all questions that contained discrepancies or were tagged as controversial.
- It is still unclear as to how final marksheet will be prepared and how students will be marked after their Term 2 is over. However, CBSE will announce the details soon on its official website.
- CBSE is expected to conduct an offline subjective exam for Term 2. It is also rumoured to have the duration of 2 hours. No MCQs will be given this time.
