All about CBSE's Single Girl Child Scholarship
On Monday, 27th December 2021, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced that applications for its Single Girl Child Scholarship 2021 are now officially open along with the renewal of 2020’s Single Girl Child Scholarship (Renewal 2021).
The Board further announced that from this year onwards, the online applications will be processed by individual schools and not by the Council directly. As per the latest news, schools have been requested to go through the scheme’s guidelines on the official CBSE website under the category Single Girl Child Scholarship X-2021 and proceed with the applications.
CBSE has been offering the Single Girl Child Scholarship, also known as CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child to single girl children across India who study under CBSE affiliated schools since 2006. The aim of this scholarship is to recognise the efforts of parents and to encourage them to promote equal educational opportunities among their daughters and motivate them to grow up into meritorious students. Here’s all about this financial aid for girl students.
Eligibility criteria
- As the name suggests, the scholarship is only for single girl child in a family, who all are Indian nationals.
- The scholarship is for all female class X pass-outs from CBSE affiliated schools.
- Girl students who are the only child of their parents and have secured 60 percent or above in their class X board exams are eligible for this scholarship.
- Students availing this scholarship must study their 10+2 from CBSE affiliated schools.
- The tuition fees of class X should not be more than INR 1500 per month.
- The tuition fees for classes XI and XII should not increase more than 10 percent of that in class X.
- NRI students who also study under CBSE affiliated schools in India and fulfil all the above-mentioned criteria are also eligible for this scholarship.
- All selected candidates should be able to produce original affidavits attested by the First-Class Judicial Magistrate/SDM/Executive Magistrate/Notary according to the format prescribed on the official CBSE website.
Benefits offered
All single girl children who have successfully passed their class X board exams from CBSE affiliated schools will receive this scholarship for a period of two years, i.e., during their 10+2 curriculum. If selected for the scholarship, the candidates will receive INR 500 per month, amounting to INR 6000 per annum to meet their class XI and XII academic expenses.
Last date of application submission
The application submission deadline for eligible students is 17th January 2022. Schools will verify their respective applications from 31st December 2021 to 25th January 2022.
