Engineering is known to be a male bastion in India. However, the scenario is changing gradually. More and more women are coming forward to take up engineering as a profession. For aspiring female engineers, Banasthali University, a women-only university in Rajasthan, conducts a national level entrance exam once every year called Banasthali University Aptitude Test (BUAT). This is for undergraduate candidates who wish to pursue degree programmes such as B. Tech in Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering as well as B. Pharma. in Pharmaceutical Engineering. The exam will be conducted in the month of June this. Here’s everything else aspiring candidates need to know.

Exam pattern
Banasthali University Aptitude Test for B. Tech and B. Pharma candidates has a single paper comprising of 100 objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The paper is divided into 3 parts, namely Part 1 that has questions on Physics and Chemistry, Part 2 that has Mathematics or Biology questions and Part 3 is dedicated to logical reasoning. The first two parts have 40 questions each and the final part has 20 questions. The syllabus follows any science stream of the 10+2 curriculum. Students who qualify the theory exam with 50 percent or above are called for 30 minutes Personality Inventory Test.
Marking scheme
The total marks of BUAT are 100. The first two sections of the paper comprise of 40 marks each, while the last section comprises of 20 marks. Each correct response is awarded with 1 mark, while wrong answers are penalised with a mark deduction of 0.25. Unattempted questions are not penalised with any negative marking. In the interview, students are given grades from A to E instead of marks.
Mode and duration
BUAT is conducted offline via pen and paper mode. Candidates can answer their papers in English only. The duration of the entrance exam is 150 minutes.
