The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarship
This private scholarship programme provides financial assistance to students pursuing their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any subject Germany. It aims to promote social democracy and hence, applicants’ social and political involvement is taken under consideration during the selection process. This scholarship helps those students fund their education who have been admitted to programmes in public or state-approved universities. A crucial criterion for eligibility is fluency in German. Undergraduate scholarship holders usually receive a monthly amount of 830€ (₹69,258), while the amount is different for graduate scholarship holders.
The Deutschlandstipendium Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to high-achieving and academically competent students from all over the world. It is supported by all participating universities in Germany. This is a collaboration between public and private institutions (this includes individuals, institutions, businesses, establishments, etc) who fund the scholarship holders with 150€ (₹12,516) a month and the same amount is also matched by the Federal Government. Thus, the scholarship holder receives an amount of 350€ (₹29,205) per month. It is generally awarded for 2 semesters, but it can be extended by the university based on the student’s performance.
The Heinrich Boll Scholarship
This programme awards close to 1200 scholarships annually to undergraduate as well as graduate students from any stream, both German and international. Applicants opting for this scholarship need to hold an exceptional academic record and a take a keen interest in social and political affairs, the most ones being related to the environment, democracy, human rights, etc. This is a privately funded scholarship, and the amount given to the scholarship holder differs from student to student depending on the course they choose.
