The Central Board of Secondary Education has announced the CBSE Science Challenge for students of Class 8 to 10. Students across all the educational boards can participate in the challenge through the official DIKSHA platform from January 17 to February 28, 2022. CBSE affiliated schools must register their students on CBSE’s official portal, www.cbse.gov.in and provide CBSE registration IDs to them. They can then join the Science Challenge on the DIKSHA platform.
Schools can nominate five students from each class who have received a participation certificate in the Science Challenge to the second stage or national qualifiers of the Raman Young Science Innovator Awards. Participation in the Science Challenge is free of cost. The challenge can be accessed in both, Hindi and English via the DIKSHA website and Android/ Apple app on smartphone and laptop. The challenge includes two modules. The first module will give a brief introduction to the CBSE Science Challenge course and the second module will focus on the Science Challenge 2022. All the students who finish the course will receive a participation certificate. The participation certificates will be issued online on the DIKSHA platform after the course is completed. Here are some smart strategies for students to ace CBSE Science Challenge 2022.
Thorough reading
Reading about different scientific concepts and taking down detailed notes will help students get better clarity on multiple topics with ease. They can divide the notes as per different subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and mention the doubts on one side of the page. Clarifying the doubts and queries with teachers and peers will make the journey easier.
Watching informative science videos
With the world having embraced the digital mode in every aspect of life, learning and gaining knowledge has become even simpler. All one needs to do is log on to YouTube and type the required topic in the search box to find the answers. There is a plethora of interesting and well-researched videos to prepare from for any science-based exam. ‘Fun Science Videos for Kids’ by Homeschool Pop and Class 8 - Science - Force and Pressure free tutorial by Instyn Education are good examples.
Study groups with friends
While individual study is good, group studies are even better. This way, students with similar problems can get together, brainstorm and find a way out. Hence, making a small study group with classmates can prove to be effective for students in acing a science challenge.
Time-based mock Q/A sessions
Group and self-studies aside, time is of importance in every examination and competition. After mastering the easy to tough science concepts, students set a timer for answering the questions and evaluate their performance for the final competition.
Real-life science examples
Science is all around us. There’s no better way to understand science concepts than to have a keen eye for observation, and conduct real-life experiments. For example, the famous Archimedes’ principle of buoyancy can be depicted through a real-life example in the kitchen. It deals with the external force applied to an object by fluids surrounding it and how it reduces the net weight of the object submerged.
