Quiz is an all-time favourite among students. Many of us have grown up participating in and watching quiz contests. In the digitized world of today, online quiz competitions have gained immense popularity, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. Keeping up with the trend, Hindustan Times is gearing up to host the Grand Finale of its much-awaited online quiz for school students tomorrow. The final round of this quiz, known as ClassAct 2022, The Hindustan Times Republic Day Quiz, will commence at 3 PM and streamed Live here. It will be hosted by renowned Indian quizmasters Dr. Navin Jayakumar and Avinash Mudaliar and conducted on Zoom and Quizizz platforms.
The Prelims round of this online school quiz, meant for students of Grade 1-12, was held on 23rd January. It saw record-breaking participation from students within the country and abroad with registrations pouring in from 32 nations across 5 continents. While the quiz saw registrations from 50,611 students, 32,644 out of them participated in the preliminaries. The Prelims round ws adjudicated real-time, by a reputed audit firm and multiple record organisations like Limca Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, and India Book of Records. With such a massive participation, ClassAct 2022 is expected to break all records in the realm of online quizzes.

Online Trivia Night, 2021: According to the Guinness World Records, this online contest, held in October 2021 in Australia, holds the record for the largest online quiz. It saw participation from 2,328 people. In order to boost the morale of its residents during the COVID-19 lockdown, Camden Council, a local government area in Greater Sydney within New South Wales, Australia, joined hands with Corporate Challenge, a team-building and events company, organised this online trivia night. The aim was to ensure fun time for residents with their family members. Multiple people from the same family were allowed to register. The quiz used the Kahoot! platform, and comprised of a total of 5 rounds with 10 questions in each. Categories for the contest included were General Knowledge, Aussie Trivia, Camden Trivia, Logos and Music.
Arivu, 2020: According to the India Book of Records, this contest holds the record of running an online quiz for the maximum number of days. Conducted by Fr. Dr. Rinju P. Koshy, a teacher at the commerce department of St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Kadampanad, Arivu, 2020 commenced in April and continued till December on social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube. It ran for two seasons through 218 episodes. Each episode had 20 questions and people from all over the world were eligible to participate.
Vodafone Turkey Quiz, 2012: This was the record holder for the largest online quiz in 2012, according to the Guinness World Records. Telecom firm Vodafone Turkey had set the record with 1,023 participants which included sales representatives from 42 different cities across Turkey. This 45-question quiz was held on December 30, 2012. It was conducted on Vpro, a special Intranet programme owned by Vodafone.
