In India, just like any other country, studying medicine is a popular career choice class XII final exam. While AIIMs entrance exam and NEET are the two preferred admission tests in India for aspiring doctors, other national level entrance exams conducted by private medical colleges are also becoming increasingly popular these days. One such test is CMC Vellore Medical Entrance Exam.
Every year the Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore conducts a national level entrance exam for medical aspirants. The undergraduate courses offered by this private medical research college (affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University) focus on medicine (MBBS), surgery (BDS) and nursing (BSc). The MBBS candidates need qualifying NEET scores to further sit for this entrance exam. The duration of this MBBS programme is 4 years 6 months with a year-long internship opportunity. This year, the CMC Vellore Medical Entrance Exam was conducted on 17th September. Registration for 2022 will begin from March 2022. CMC Vellore entrance exam has a single paper with two sections: Group A and Group B. While Group A has 60 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) on Physics, Chemistry and Biology, Group B is a General Aptitude paper containing another 60 MCQs from current affairs, logical reasoning and English. This makes the total number of questions to be 120. The syllabus follows that of any 10+2 curriculum.
Marking scheme
There are 120 marks for 120 objective questions. There is 1 positive marking for each correct answer. Incorrect or unattempted answers do not have negative marking.
Mode and duration
CMC Vellore entrance exam is conducted online through computer-based mode. Students can answer their paper in English only. The duration of the whole paper is 2 hours and 30 minutes.
