Every year, the Consumer Technology Association hosts a convention known as CES (Consumer Electronics Show.) It began all the way back in 1967 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada, United States. It’s 2022 version was held in the same location on January 5 2022, 54 years after its establishment. It is known around the world for hosting presentations of new products and the tech developments in technology. Here are some of the wackiest and most amusing launches observed at the event.
Invisible headphones by Noveto
This launch by Noveto is nothing short of a magic trick. The Noveto N1 headphones depart from the conventional design, so much so that they are not even placed over the user’s head and ears! Instead, they can be placed on a desk or any flat surface. By emitting ultrasound waves towards the user’s ears, these headphones eliminate the need of any wire at all. They can be paired with any device which supports Bluetooth.
Wisear’s mind-controlled audio technology
Keeping up with the trend of eliminating wires Wisear has launched its outstanding mind-controlled audio technology. Although wireless earphones and headphones exist and are extremely popular in the market, users still have to interact with the device to turn the volume up and down, change the song, answer calls, etc. Wisear aims to get rid of this inconvenience using neural interface technology. With AI, tiny electrodes read and record facial activity, allowing users to give commands as required.
A colour-changing car by BMW
BMW presented a concept car called iX Flow which wowed the audience by changing its colour from black to white and vice versa- just with the push of a button. In order to do this, it uses something known as “shade-changing ink.” However, the purpose in not limited merely to its aesthetic capabilities. It is designed with the idea of allowing one to switch the car to a lighter shade in order to keep the car cool during the hot days of summer.
Imuzak’s 3D steering-wheel
Although a debatable tech launch due to safety reasons, this is still an intriguing one. Imuzak’s technology creates holograms that pop up on the steering wheel or dashboard, informing the driver about ATMs, washrooms, etc. in the vicinity. These pop-up notifications appear on a touchscreen which is inbuilt into the wheel, allowing the driver to interact with them as well.
