Technology is a constantly evolving field, and this evolution follows human requirements. Depending on what we need, certain aspects of tech or certain gadgets or services start trending till they settle into the market. Today we will look at hyperautomation, an emerging approach related to digital transformation initiatives.
What is hyperautomation?
Hyperautomation is the concept of automating everything in an organization that has the scope to be automated. Organizations adopt hyperautomation aiming to streamline business processes using artificial intelligence (AI), robotic process automation (RPA), and other technologies that can run without human intervention. Existing infrastructure and processes can often slow down an organization, affect their ability to be competitive, and leave a negative financial impact on an economy. Simple, task-based automation may not deliver the cross-functional results that a modern business wants.
Why is hyperautomation working well with companies?
According to a 2021 survey by Gartner, hyperautomation is identified as one of the top 10 strategic technology trends worldwide, though it’s still an emerging technology. The survey showed that 85% of participating companies plan to increase or sustain their organization’s hyperautomation investments over the next 12 months, and more than 56% already have four or more hyperautomation initiatives planned / happening. It seemed that most large companies felt their existing automation is out-dated, and hyperautomation is the right approach to manage work.
Why has hyperautomation started trending?
This is clearly new technology. So why has hyperautomation caught on so fast with so many companies, and in short, why is it trending now? It’s important to note the role of the pandemic here. It has augmented the adoption and acceleration of hyperautomation within the market. Over just one year, companies tried to think of a scenario where not having people in their physical facilities might not be a show-stopper for business. With the business ecosystem operating across geographies and remotely, hyperautomation eased the burden that repetitive processes and legacy infrastructure were putting on the organization and its resources. Hyperautomation came out as an affordable but efficient option in this scenario. It seems that the trend will rise more.
