Eligibility criteria
Exam pattern
JEE Advanced exam consists of two papers. Each paper, scheduled for 3 hours, will have 3 sections containing the same 3 subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. There will be four different kinds of questions, namely: MCQs with a single correct option, standard questions with multiple answers, questions with numerical values and match the columns. PWD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates will be given an extra hour to finish their papers.
Marking scheme
Both paper 1 and 2 will be of 183 marks each taking the total aggregate to 366 marks. Both the papers are compulsory. The marks division per section varies from year to year. For each correct answer, candidates will get 3 or 4 marks depending on the question, and a negative marking of 1 mark in case of incorrect answers. No marks will be given in case a question is left unattempted. A special marking system applicable for JEE Advanced is the nature of awarding partial marks in case of multiple-answer questions, making it easier for students to secure a high overall percentage.
Mode of exam
JEE Advanced is a fully online computer-based exam. Students are allowed to write the exam in either English or Hindi. Unlike JEE Mains, examinees don’t have the option of using their regional languages in this JEE Advanced.
