On May 11, HT School, in collaboration with Kiran Nadar Museum, Delhi, had organised an inter-school painting competition named ‘Kaleidoscope.’ It was conducted in the Kiran Nadar Museum and was attended by more than 1500 students from around 90 schools. The competition was judged by a distinguished panel comprising of Bulbul Sharma, revered Indian painter and author and Somya Sahni, Lead, Education and Outreach Programme, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art. Sharing her thoughts on the day of competition, Ms. Shuchi Khanna, HOD-Arts, Sanskriti School, Chanakyapuri, said, “The children are exuberant as they have come for a competition like this after a gap of more than two years. More than 1500 students are here and every child was thoroughly enjoying,” she said. Congratulating HT School for this ‘wonderful’ initiative, she added that the topics chosen for the competition were age-appropriate.
The topper from the Junior category, Hridya Arora, The Modern School, Kundli, always wanted to express her feelings about her hobby through the medium of art. That is why, she decided to for the topic ‘My favourite hobby.’ “Skating always helps me to overcome my bad days as it gives me the feeling of being free, fearless and happy. So, I decided to paint my feelings on the paper and drew skates,” she said.
The students who participated in the competition displayed a kind of enthusiasm that was unmistakable. “It felt wonderful to be surrounded by so many art lovers like me!” said Atharv Bagria, Class 6, Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad. Echoing similar thoughts, Abhirup Dutta, Class 9, DPS, Sushant Lok, added, “I really enjoyed participating in this competition. It was such a pleasant experience.”
Kaleidoscope: A snapshot
The competition was divided into three categories: Junior (from classes 4 to 6), Middle (from classes 7 to 9) and Senior (from classes 10 to 12). In terms of topic, Junior category participants were given a choice was between ‘My favourite hobby’ or ‘My favourite cartoon character.’ For the Middle category also, there were two options: ‘Mother Nature as I See It’ or ‘Environment and Climate Change.’ Senior category participants could choose from these two topics: ‘Colours of India’ or ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.’ At the end of the competition, a fun and exciting magic show was organised for students by renowned magician Jatinder Singh Babbar.
Who were the winners?
From each category there were three winners who were awarded with exciting gift hampers as well as certificates. Apart from the toppers, Kaleidoscope had something for all. Two consolation prizes were awarded to the 4th and 5th rank holders in each category. Additionally, certificates were given to everyone for participation.
