Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana or the KVYP entrance exam is a national level admission test conducted every year for the students who aspire to study general courses in Basic Science and eventually end up doing research in their respective fields. The conducting body of the KVYP entrance exam is The Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India. Qualifying this entrance exam offers scholarships to students for pursuing undergraduate courses. This year the KVYP entrance exam is scheduled to be held on 7th November. Exam pattern
Students appearing for the SA stream will have 80 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The paper will comprise of four sections covering four subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Each of these sections will have 20 questions each. However, these four sections will be further sub-categorized into Part 1 (15 questions) and Part 2 (5 questions). The syllabus will be that of any recognized Class 10 Science curriculum.
Students appearing for the SX steam will have 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The paper will comprise of four sections covering four subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Each of these sections will have 30 questions each. These four sections will be further sub-divided into Part 1 (20 questions) and Part 2 (10 questions). The syllabus will be that of any recognized 10+2 Science curriculum.
Marking scheme
For SA students, the total marks will be 100. The marks division includes 25 marks for each subject (Part 1 has 15 marks, Part 2 has 10 marks). The cut-off for 2021 is 45 for general students and 35 for reserved categories.
For SX students, the total marks will be 160. The marks division includes 40 marks for each subject (Both Part 1 and 2 have 20 marks each). The cut-off for 2021 is 43 for general students and 33 for reserved categories.
Mode and duration
The KVYP entrance exam is conducted online. Candidates can choose to answer their paper in either English or Hindi. The duration is 3 hours.
