Quick facts about the Merck India Charitable Trust Scholarship programme

A charitable trust founded by Merck India, a leading science and technology company in, has been offering a financial aid called Merck India Charitable Trust (MICT) Scholarship programme since its inception in 2005. Hundreds of scholars have benefitted from this scholarship programme so far and have excelled in their respective fields starting from engineering and medicine, nursing, commerce, science and aviation.  

The 2021-22 MICT scholarship programme aims to provide financial assistance to meritorious students who belong to under-privileged backgrounds but are keen on pursuing higher education. This scholarship programme is available to the students in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Bengaluru. Here’s everything about this scheme. 

Eligibility criteria 

• Candidates must be a citizen of India with valid identity proofs. They should also be 16 years or above. 
• They should be residents of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Bengaluru.   
• Candidates need to have successfully passed their class 10 (secondary) board exams in 2021 with 80 per cent or above grades overall.  
• Candidate’s family income should not be more than INR 20,000 monthly from all sources combined. Income proofs or salary slips should be provided for the same.  
• Candidates living all across India are eligible for this scholarship programme.  
• Candidates should currently be enrolled in a 10+2 programme under a recognised central or state school.  
• Candidates should have ambitions to pursue college level education until graduation. 

Benefits offered 
All candidates selected under this scholarship programme are eligible to receive INR 35,000 per year until their graduation from a chosen field. This financial assistance will only cover the academic expenses for which the students would need to submit their original receipts of each educational expenses on a monthly basis. This is a long-term support and its objective is to help talented young students to pursue their career dreams irrespective of their economic background. However, students need to maintain their grades above 80 per cent in school level and above 50 per cent in college level to be eligible for renewal of this scholarship annually.
