A seismologist, popularly known as an earth scientist is a professional in the field of geology. Primarily, he specialises in the study of earthquakes, apart from other related natural occurrences such as volcanic eruptions, oceanic waves, tectonic plate movements and tsunami.
The main job role of a seismologist is to collect data, locate and predict the source and after-effects, determine the nature and analyse the magnitude of seismic events.
