Megan Thee Stallion and Doja Cat were numbers 1 and 2 respectively for a second year in row, because they had topped in 2020 too. In this case, TikTok used a very innovative method for rating, they chose the songs that inspired the largest number of videos, not just reactions or views. Popp Hunna was at nmber 3. TikTok’s Top 10 chart stands apart from others because they show audience engaging very actively with music they liked. So, it’s not surprising that many of these artists again appear in TikTok’s list of top tracks for 2021.
What were the top songs and trending genre on TikTok?
Hiphop, rap, and pop continued topping as genres on TikTok. Billie Eilish came as an expected number one artist for popular tracks, followed by Lil Nas X at number 2. In addition to this data, TikTok also gave a list of users with most used sound clips, and another list of 20 emerging artists, meant to encourage new talent.
