Did you know that Google is able to track your kid’s location? Here's how to stop it

Internet users all over the world rely on multiple Google applications for their day-to-day affairs. However, not many people know that Google tracks the location of the users, stores the data history and then claims that this allows them to offer the users a more personalised experience. While parents nowadays use several parental apps to track their kids’ location throughout the day, they may not feel comfortable to know that so does Google as this feature compromises on the privacy of children. So, you may want to turn off the settings that may track your youngsters’ location. But even after this, Google manages to collect relevant data by assessing approximate locations of its users, especially while they use services like Google maps and Google search.   

Steps to turn off Google’s location tracking feature permanently 
If you want to ensure that Google no longer tracks your kids’ locations, follow the steps we have mentioned below. 

• Open a browser on the smartphone or computer and search google.com. 
• Now go to the top right corner of the screen and log in to the Google account. 
• Once you’re logged in, go to the ‘Settings’ and click on ‘Manage your Google account.’ 
• Here, go to ‘Privacy & Personalisation’ and then tap on ‘Things you’ve done/Places you’ve been.’  
• Next, tap on ‘Location History’ under the Location Settings icon and go to ‘Activity Controls.’ 
• Here, you will see a ‘Turn off’ option right under Location history. Select it. 
• Finally, you will see a pop-up window open where there’s an option called ‘Pause’ at the bottom.  

Steps to delete location history 
Following the steps mentioned above does not delete previously saved location history. After turning off the location tracking feature, here is what you need to do if you want to remove it altogether. 

• Once you are on the ‘Activity Controls’ option under ‘Location History’, go to ‘Manage History’ at the bottom of the page. This will open up a timeline where all the past locations, along with date and time can be accessed. 
• If you wish to delete the location history of a particular day, select the date on the timeline and wait for the pop-up that reads ‘Delete Day’ to appear. Once it appears, click on it.  
• In case you want to delete all past location at one go, click on trash icon at the bottom right corner. A pop-up window will appear saying ‘I understand and want to delete all location history.’ Once this is clicked, the entire location history is deleted.
