DIY vision board: A fun craft to try this weekend

We all dream a little about something or the other. Dreams exist so that they can be turned into reality. What better than a vision board to manifest our dreams in actual? A vision board is a collage of images and text that symbolise a person's dreams or ambitions and are meant to inspire or motivate them. If your kids have something on their mind that they really want to accomplish, getting them to make a vision board to start with could be a good idea! It allows kids to frequently exercise their imagination, helping them create a more vivid vision of their goals and making sure that that they stick to it even after the board is removed. Introduce your child to the fascinating world of creativity with a DIY vision board. Here is how to make it.   

What you’ll need   

• Poster board 
• Magazines for cutting different kind of pictures  
• Images of anything the child loves taken from the internet 
• Scissors 

• DIary 
• Glue sticks 
• Paper and pen 
• Sharpies, paint, glitter, or sequins 

How-to: 

Get these on a table, call your kids and start the experiment. Here’s a step-by-step guide for them to follow: 

• Sit down with your kids and ask them what goals they want to achieve in the month or year ahead. Be it big or small goals encourage them to write down everything in a diary. 
• Next, tell them to decide what their most important priorities are and create a new, small list. What are the things they really, really want to happen above all else? Those things are definitely going on their to-be created vision board. 
• It's now time to look for and cut out images and phrases that represent your child's aspirations or simply speak to them. Pick words, colours, and images that connect to your child's targets from the magazines you have. 
• If the books and magazines at your disposal do not have the pictures you are looking for, hop on to the internet and print the ones your kids are really aiming for. 

• You may help your kid divide the vision board into different areas where the goals and intentions for each area of interest can be jotted down. 
• It's now time to put your photos and words on the poster board. So, with your poster board in front of you and the pile of photographs in your hands, sort through the images and determine which ones should go on the poster board. 
• Place it roughly where it will go in the section. If you choose, you can remove backgrounds or trim photographs as you go. Then, go through the rest of the clippings. Stand back and take a look at the board once you've depicted all of your objectives and dreams on it. How does it appear? 
• Begin glueing everything down after you're happy with the layout. Turn each image or word over, apply a layer of glue with a glue stick, and stick it to the poster board one at a time.  
• The last step is optional, though it would add a creative touch to the vision board. You and kids may add your own words, doodles, or sketches over and around the collaged images with Sharpie markers or glue on fun collage items such as sequins, glitter, lace or ribbon, etc.
