Does our child want to be a photographer? Nurture his passion

There is hardly any youngster who doesn’t know how to click a quality (sometimes Insta worthy too!) picture, thanks to high-definition smartphones. However, there’s a sea of a difference between a casual hobby and penchant for photography. If you notice serious passion for this art in your youngster, here is how you can hone his skills.    

Invest in a good quality camera 
Buying a good quality handy digital camera for your youngster is the first step towards nurturing his interest in photography. Currently, there are plenty of reasonably-priced pocket-friendly cameras available for them. While choosing one, make sure that the camera has simple settings, tough exterior and a long battery life. It will be good if it fits into the pocket easily.  

Encourage them to carry the camera 
The more photos they take, the higher are the chances of your youngster mastering this skill. So, remind her to carry the camera when she heads out, be it for a friends’ meet or a trip to a hill station. This way, she won’t miss the opportunity to click anything that draws her attention. Though today’s youngsters have the option of clicking with their smartphones, taking pictures with a camera comes with its own benefits while it comes to skill building in photography.   

Motivate them to take challenges 
A photographic challenge often boosts creativity and attention span in youngsters. It could mean a subtle competition between siblings or friends or clicking images of a particular colour, capturing different shapes, and photographing different patterns, moods, or focusing on one particular subject. Before heading off for a vacation, make a list of things for your budding photographer that he can focus on during the trip. It could be anything from landscape to moods, emotions or moments.  

Arrange a digital exhibition at home 
Almost every house has a smart TV these days. Have your young shutterbug choose his best clicks, assort them in a folder and save put it on a flash drive. She can add background music to this digital album with the help of apps, to enhance the effect. Invite her friends and cousins over a weekend to showcase the pictures through a smart TV. All you need to do is simply attach the pen drive with the television set.
