WhatsApp voice texts can now be reviewed before sending: Here’s how
Instant messaging app WhatsApp, owned by tech giant Meta, is popular with both teenagers and adults, who use it for study, work, communication and entertainment. The younger generation uses it to communicate with their friends and peers from anywhere, anytime. Recently, WhatsApp has once again updated its features, this time adding an option of previewing and double-checking voice texts before sending them. This much needed change has been widely received by majority of its users.
The feature where users are able to send over voice texts has been there on the app for a while now. However, the recently added preview option is expected to enhance its utility. This feature is available both on Android and iOS devices. However, if one can’t locate it still, he or she needs to wait for the next update of the app.
Why WhatsApp texts need to be reviewed before sending?
It is always easier to record a voice note rather than type, especially when a message is an emergency or contains a lot of details or instructions. However, in absence of the preview option earlier, it was difficult to understand whether the recording was clear or there were background noises. As it used to happen, users often had to delete their sent voice texts and resend them as the recipient complained of the notes being unclear or even inaudible. With this new improvement, one can easily review voice messages before sending them.
Step-by-step guide to use this feature
Encourage your youngster to follow these instructions and send a good quality voice note.
- Open a group or an individual chat option.
- Tap on the microphone icon and hold, then slide it up to lock your recording (This will doubly ensure the end-to-end encryption of voice texts).
- Start recording the voice and once it’s finished click on ‘Stop.’
- Now click on the newly added ‘Play’ option and listen to the recording till the very end. One can also tap anywhere in between to listen to specific parts of it.
- To go ahead with the voice text, click on ‘Send’ icon. In case there’s a need for deletion, click on the ‘Trash can’ icon.
- Re-record the voice text and follow the exact same steps until satisfied.
