If you are a Marvel fan, you must have watched Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in the big screen back when it released on 11th November last year. Okay, but does that mean you can’t watch it again? Of course not! Well, to make you wish come true, Disney released the film on their Disney Plus app/ website recently.
Now guess what? Within only five days of its web premiere, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever became the most watched Marvel film premiere on the platform, thus setting a record. This was revealed by Disney based on the hours spent by the global audience streaming the film online.
For those unaware, the superhero film is based on the Marvel Comics character Black Panther and is the sequel to 2018’s Black Panther. Being deemed as the 30th film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it revolves around Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and Dora Milaje – all legends of the Black Panther world fight together to save their nation Wakanda from the intruding world powers in the after math of their leader King T’Challa’s demise. As they mourn his passing, they also find ways to protect their realm from potential invaders with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross. Their goal is simple to find a new path for their kingdom while embracing their next chapters.
It is directed by Ryan Coogler and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore. The film has been immensely popular since its release in late 2022. In fact, in this year’s Oscars, it has earned five nominations in the categories: Visual Effects, Make-up and Hairstyling, Costume Design, Original Song (“Lift Me Up” by Rihanna) and Best Supporting Actress (Angela Bassett in the role of Ramonda).
What’s more interesting is that the fans can now watch behind the scenes footage and interviews of the stars and making of the film in a series called Assembled: The Making of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever that is now streaming on Disney Plus worldwide.
Still running in the theatres, the film’s global box office total now stands at a whooping 842.3 million dollars. As per reports, the film also had a Live+4D household viewership of 2.1 million in USA alone.
