HT School along with its partners Intel, Chhattisgarh Govt, and Acer started HT Code-a-thon in August last year with the intention of promoting this in-demand technical ability among school children and giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their talent in a nationwide competition. Students from all over India participated in this four-month programme. The winners were announced yesterday from 11.30 AM to 12:15 PM on HT School official YouTube channel.
Speaking at the felicitation event, Ajitesh Pandey, CEO, AIC@36Inc and Adl CEO, CHiPS, averred, “Coding is a vital skill in this tech-driven age, and we hope that this coding Olympiad will inspire students to use technology to advance their academic and professional lives. These types of initiatives are helpful for school-going children as coding is going to be a life skill for the future.” He also shared Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel’s views saying a platform like HT Code-a-thon garners inclusivity, healthy competition, as well as personal and adaptive learning.
The keynote speaker, Swati Sharda, Group Head, Events and Government Programmes, HT Media, said, “Coding not only boosts problem-solving skills, but also fosters creativity and logical thinking in children. An event like HT Code-a-thon offers students a chance to be ready for the future and I wish all the best to the winners for their future endeavours.”
Echoing similar views, Sooraj Balakrishnan, Head of Marketing, India and Bangladesh, Acer remarked that as a tech company Acer recognises the importance of coding in driving progress and growth for the future. He further added, “HT Code-a-thon is a testament to the importance of coding in the new-age world. We are committed to promoting coding literacy and building a culture of innovation. Our partnership with HT Code-a-thon enables us to support and nurture the next generation of tech leaders. Coding is not just a skill, but rather a language that helps students bring ideas to life. It allows them to create, innovate and solve complex problems as technology has become integral to education.”
Who are the winners?
HT Code-a-thon was divided into three phases: The Learning phase, the Qualifier round and the Final competition. The Top 100 students from each grade qualified for the final round, while the Top 3 students from each grade were declared as champions. In total, 18 winners emerged across grades 4 to 9. For instance, Grade 4 students were awarded for Game Design with Scratch; Grade 5 students for App Design; Grade 6 students for Web Development; Grade 7 students for Unity Game Development; Grade 8 students for Python and Grade 9 students for Python with AI. They walked away with exciting prizes which included laptops, smart watches, and tablets. Here is the full list of names.
