In today’s fast-paced, unprecedented, and cut-throat world, exposing youngsters to the domain of competition from the school level has become important to help them excel in their academic and professional careers. Taking that into account, Hindustan times introduced the 8th edition of Hindustan Olympiad. Open to all Indian students of grades 1 to 12, Hindustan Olympiad 2023 is deemed as one of the largest Olympiads in the country. It kicked off with the Qualifier Round on 11th and 12th March. For those who missed participating on these dates were given the opportunity to appear on 2nd April. More than 10,000 students participated in the Qualifier from across the nation. The maximum number of candidates came from Bihar (4685), Uttar Pradesh (4001) and Jharkhand (1165). The Final round will be conducted on 9th April. Final results will be announced on 26th April, while online felicitation ceremony will happen on 28th April.
The objective behind Hindustan Olympiad 2023 is to assess students on all subjects, beyond the school syllabus, while giving them the opportunity to learn new things, compete with their peers from across India and earn rewards on the way. It is meant to test their academic prowess while also improving their memory, critical/ logical thinking and above all facilitating a spirit of healthy competition.

More than 3000 students will qualify for the Final round. Among them, the finalists will be one from each participating school/ district/ state. The Final round will comprise of 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) on a plethora of topics.
For instance, grades 1 to 5 will have to tackle four subjects, namely, Maths, Science, English and General Knowledge. For the first two, there will be 15 questions each, while the next two will have 10 questions each. Similarly, students of grades 6 to 10 also have to appear for the same four topics alongside Logical Reasoning. Here, each section will have 10 questions each.
Students of grades 11 and 12 will have to choose from the three streams: Humanities, Commerce and Science. While English and Logical Reasoning are common for all, students who select Humanities will have to answer questions from History, Geography, and Political Science. For Commerce candidates, the topics include Accountancy, Business Studies, and Economics. Science, on the other hand, is divided into two categories: PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) and PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology). Students can either take part in PCM or PCB, but never both. All the papers will have 10 questions each from five topics.
Each question will carry 1 mark. There will be no negative marking. However, tie breakers may happen basis time. The duration of the Final is 1 hour.
Students who will win at the school level will receive a participation certificate alongside a performance assessment report. The winner at the district level from each grade will receive a cash scholarship of INR 2100 plus a merit certificate. Likewise, the topper of each grade at the state level will earn a trophy, a cash scholarship of INR 5100 as well as a merit certificate.
With an esteemed legacy of seven years, Hindustan Olympiad has empowered more than 11 lakh students from over 20,000 schools, by offering them an all-round stage to compete at a national level. Among them, over 11,000 students have been felicitated till date with scholarships worth INR 2.5 crores. Brace yourselves for the much-anticipated Finale!
