5 facts about the Jaipur Literature Festival that you should know 

If you're a fan of literature, you can't afford to miss the most sought-after intellectual retreat in India, the Jaipur Literature Festival. Held in India’s Pink City, Jaipur, it is reckoned as one of the greatest literary shows of the world.  

The literature festival is being organised in a hybrid mode this year and a larger number of speakers and authors are expected to attend it. The virtual lit fest will take place from March 5 to March 14 and the on-ground lit fest will be conducted from March 10 to March 14. Some of the speakers at JLF 2022 include: Abhijit Banerjee, recipient of the 2019 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics, he teaches economics at Massachusets Institute of Technology (MIT); Amitabh Kant, present CEO, the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog). He is a member of the Indian Administrative Service (Kerala Cadre) and Christina Lamb, chief foreign correspondent at The Sunday Times and a bestselling author, among others. 

The new features introduced at Jaipur Literature Festival 2022 include:  

• A new venue (Hotel Clarks Amer) instead of Diggi Palace 
• ‘Friends of the Festival’ (FOF), a lounge specially designed for the event. It will be open to the public for special appetizers, tea, or coffee. At FOF Lounge, there will be a special book signing and book delivery. 
• Every day at the festival will begin with calming music for music lovers. There will be ‘Morning Music’ sessions by Hindustani classical singers like Ujjwal Nagar, Sombala Kumar Sawmill and Aastha Goswami. 
• A Heritage Evening will be conducted on March 13 at Ganesh Pol, Amer Fort. 
• Mind, Body and Soul series and Festival Buzzaar are the other attractions during JLF 2022.

Jaipur Literature Festival has a rich historical legacy 

The Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) will celebrate its 15th year in 2022. In 2006, the acclaimed event was first held as a one-of-a-kind festival in the city. Previously, the literary artworks were displayed as part of the Jaipur Heritage International Festival, which was organised by Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple, who are now the festival organisers of JLF. The first standalone event, held in 2007, had a capacity of only 250-300 people, in stark contrast to subsequent years, when the event drew over 3,00,000 people from all over the world! 

Jaipur Literature Festival returns to a new venue for the first time 

For the first time ever, JLF is not being held at the iconic Diggi Palace, a name associated with the festival since its inception. Hotel Clarks Amer, the new site of JLF season 15, has a long tra-dition of supporting arts and culture. Jaipur Literature Festival to debut at Maldives this year 

The Jaipur Literature Festival, Soneva Fushi, at Maldives will be held between May 13-22, 2022. Events will take place at stunning locations across the Soneva Fushi Island over the course of ten days and two weekends, with topics as diverse as travel, fiction, food, art, wellness, climate change, and the environment. World renowned writers, engaging workshops, music, art, and culture will all be featured at the Festival.
