If you're a fan of literature, you can't afford to miss the most sought-after intellectual retreat in India, the Jaipur Literature Festival. Held in India’s Pink City, Jaipur, it is reckoned as one of the greatest literary shows of the world.
The literature festival is being organised in a hybrid mode this year and a larger number of speakers and authors are expected to attend it. The virtual lit fest will take place from March 5 to March 14 and the on-ground lit fest will be conducted from March 10 to March 14. Jaipur Literature Festival has a rich historical legacy
The Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) will celebrate its 15th year in 2022. In 2006, the acclaimed event was first held as a one-of-a-kind festival in the city. Previously, the literary artworks were displayed as part of the Jaipur Heritage International Festival, which was organised by Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple, who are now the festival organisers of JLF. The first standalone event, held in 2007, had a capacity of only 250-300 people, in stark contrast to subsequent years, when the event drew over 3,00,000 people from all over the world!
Jaipur Literature Festival returns to a new venue for the first time
For the first time ever, JLF is not being held at the iconic Diggi Palace, a name associated with the festival since its inception. Hotel Clarks Amer, the new site of JLF season 15, has a long tra-dition of supporting arts and culture.
