Are you a Netflix fan? Well, we have good news for you! Your favourite OTT platform will offer a special audio feature to ensure that you enjoy a surround sound like experience. What’s more, you won’t need any additional app or gadget for this.
Netflix has collaborated with the audio company Sennheiser to introduce this brand-new spatial audio support for its users worldwide. This special feature will be available to all Netflix members, irrespective of the device or the streaming plan they use. However, you can enjoy this stereo audio experience for now only selected Netflix originals. But wait, what does this immersive sound technology do for its users? It enables them to catch subtle nuances of certain sounds, that often go unnoticed otherwise. And, if you prefer using headphones, chances are you will appreciate the spatial audio support feature even more.
How does the spatial audio support work?
The spatial audio feature, which is already live on the Netflix platform across the world, uses Sennheiser’s brand new technology AMBEO. If you are a Netflix member, all you have to do is type “Spatial Audio” into the search bar and get the list of shows that offer this feature. Select one and immerse in this highly evolved sound experience. This new feature is an add-on to the already existing special features that Netflix offers such as: 4K and HDR video qualities, Dolby Atmos sound experience and Netflix Calibrated Mode.
Perks of the new audio feature
If you are someone who is particular about sound and are keen on enhancing your audio experience, then Netflix’s new spatial audio feature is ideal for you.
You will no longer have to use external speakers with surrounding quality or home theatre arrangements to enjoy better audio quality on Netflix. In case you have no clue about this feature yet, there’s no need to worry. Netflix will auto-enable spatial audio support as and when they watch a compatible show.
But here’s something important. If you have your device set to 5.1 audio output by default, it’s time for you to change the settings to stereo audio, as spatial audio is auto-disabled and unsupported in the former. As for the users who prefer using surround audio speakers, you are recommended to watch shows using Dolby Atmos or 5.1 surround sound.
