Every year, the National Law University (NLU), Delhi, conducts a national level entrance exam called the All-India Law Entrance Test or AILET. This exam is for students who aspire to be law graduates (5-year integrated B.A. LLB) from colleges affiliated to this university all across India right after their class XII finals. This year, this entrance test happened in the month of July. AILET 2022 registration will begin in the first week of January 2022 and the exam will tentatively happen in May 2022. Exam pattern
AILET for B.A. LLB students has 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). All questions are compulsory. The paper is divided into 5 sections. The syllabus includes topics such as General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Basic English and Mathematics. The first four sections have 35 questions each and the last section has 10 questions. The syllabus is based on any 10+2 curriculum of Indian school education system.
Marking scheme
AILET comprises of 150 marks. The first four sections will have 35 marks each and the final section will have 10 marks. 1 mark will be awarded for each correct answer. For every wrong answer, 0.25 mark will be deducted. Unanswered questions will not be penalized.
Mode and duration
AILET is conducted offline in a pen and paper mode through OMR sheets. Candidates can answer their papers only in English. The duration of the entrance exam is 90 minutes.
