Education department will now be training teachers virtually in Bihar
The Education Department of Bihar government has introduced two interactive online courses that will impart ‘resourceful teaching’ skills among all the government school headmasters and teachers in the state. The curriculum of these online courses has been designed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and a non-profit organisation called Mantra4Change. Out of the two courses, one will be focussing on promoting continuous professional development and the other one will be concentrating on specialisation in a specific subject. The online training problem is available on the DIKSHA platform till 18th June.
The course is free of cost and mandatory for all teachers of classes 8 to 12. To motivate them to come forward and participate, the department has announced that teachers who perform well in the training will be felicitated by the department.
The courses have been designed to enrich the teachers in terms of knowledge. The aim is to improve the quality of learning and teaching at government schools. These courses will also help teachers keep up their curiosity to learn while helping them imbibe new skills. Training programmes and workshops organised at regular intervals can be instrumental in adding edge to the existing teaching style.
The state’s Education Department has recognised the importance of initiatives like this to help teachers adapt to changes in the landscape of education.
In order to yield better results, all district education officers have been instructed to create a virtual community for teachers and headmasters for sharing learning materials over there. It will help students directly and enhance the quality of learning and teaching at government schools.
In the previous month, the education department had urged the Centre to provide suitable digital devices under the ‘Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan’ to school students in the state who are unable to pursue online classes amid the closure of schools.
