Kotak Shiksha Nidhi: A financial aid for COVID-affected Indian students
Kotak Group is one of India’s largest non-banking finance companies whose mission is to address urban poverty through education and employment opportunities. In order to empower children and youth from the underprivileged sections of the society and make them job ready, they have undertaken many vocational skills training initiatives and financial aid programmes. Kotak Shiksha Nidhi is one such initiative.
It is a scholarship programme introduced by the Kotak Group of Companies in collaboration with their partner organisation Kotak Education Foundation to provide financial assistance to Covid-19 affected students in India and help them continue with their education. This scholarship programme, with the motto of ‘Aim, Assist, Achieve’, is part of Kotak Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project. Here's all about this scholarship
Eligibility criteria
- All applicants should be citizens of India with valid identity proofs.
- Applicants should be aged between 6 and 22 years.
- Applicants must be pursuing school education (from classes I to XII) or college education (under-graduation or diploma courses) from any recognised educational institutes in the country.
- Applicants should have lost one or both parents due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Applicants should have lost the primary earning member of their families to Covid-19 pandemic or the sole earning member should have suffered a job loss during the ongoing pandemic.
Selection process
Kotak Education Foundation will be responsible for finally selecting the scholars who will be eligible for Kotak Shiksha Nidhi scholarship. The applications will be reviewed by a jury based on proofs of continuation of education, academic expenses for school, college or junior college programmes (including admission fees, tuition fees, stationery, books, library deposit and other study resources) and economical need (valid proof of the loss of parents or primary earning members of the family).
Benefits offered
All school students studying from classes I to XII will receive a scholarship amount of INR 10000 per year. All college students will receive a scholarship amount of INR 25000 per year. The scholarship is renewable for a period of 2 years. Students living in India but studying under international boards, such as IGSCE and IB are exempted from this scholarship.
