Why doodle?
Apart from being a great art form that can open many career options for kids, doodling comes with a plethora of cognitive benefits for them. Here is a low-don on them:
Enhances memory: A research published in the journal Applied Cognitive Psychology reveals that doodling increases the capacity to remember information. The study authors theorise that this happens because doodling increases focus and concentration.
Improves non-verbal communication skills: Words are not used in drawing. So, while doodling, your kids will learn to find other ways of communication with the audience and expressing their thoughts.
Brings down stress: A growing body of research reveals that doodling can be instrumental in alleviating stress. While doodling, your kid won't have the performance pressure of creating something perfect. She can draw anything that comes to her mind. This is a relaxing exercise.
Fosters big picture thinking: When you doodling one focusses on the big picture and most important ideas. This activity will be helpful if your child has the tendency to get stuck in details. Doodling is a great exercise to get to the larger picture and perspective.
