Recently, the streets Dubai saw a man hovering around on a self-made magic carpet. The video of this man, named Mark Daton, had him wearing a robe like the one Aladin donned in our favourite Arabian Nights. It caught the fancy of netizens the moment it surfaced on the internet. Upon investigation, it was found out that the man is a popular American YouTuber who owns his own channel RhyzOrDie.
How did the real-life flying magic carpet story unfold?
In late November, YouTuber Mark Daton posted on his social media claiming that he might soon be seen flying around the streets of Dubai on his magic carpet. To make a stronger impact, he even posted a picture of himself dressed like the Prince Ali from the fable Aladdin.
Within a fortnight of his announcement, passers-by in Dubai noticed him on his flying venture having an experience of a lifetime. Getting over their momentary amazement, they were quick enough to record him and post it on social media, that became globally viral within a few minutes. Witnesses said that they saw Daton cruising around on a carpet that glided few inches above the ground. To top it all, the YouTuber was even seen flying over the sea around the city of Dubai.
The real-life Aladdin had specifically chosen Dubai’s Gold Souq area, as it happens to be the largest gold market in the world and attracts thousands of tourists and proprietors of popular global brands.
How did the YouTuber create a flying magic carpet?
The YouTuber, Mark Daton, who has been conferred the title of real-life Aladdin designed his magic carpet with the help of his engineering knowledge.
To hover on land, all he did was to use a remote-controlled electric skateboard; and to create the magic carpet effect he created a PVC pipe frame around the longboard before covering it with a carpet on top.
For his out-of-the world stunt, he also installed an ‘eFoil board’ also called a surfboard with an electric propeller. Before setting out on sea, he replaced the skateboard with this surfboard and once again covered it with a carpet.
To make it all believable, Daton also posted a behind the scenes video with his amazing insights. This follow-up video reveals the entire process and how he came upon this uniquely designed Aladdin robe, which happens to be a brainchild of his friend from the fashion industry.
