According to the Cyber Media Research Report of November 2020, Indians spent around 7 hours per week playing games on their mobiles. The time spent on mobile gaming went up for 53% of users. 15% of the gamers switched to paid mobile gaming apps during the lockdown while free gaming apps increased by 8%. Today we are going to look at the 5 most downloaded mobile apps of 2021 so far. To decide who tops the lists, we have looked at Google Play Store toppers as well as compared topper lists by PC Magazine, Kaspersky (the antivirus maker), Android Authority and a host of other app review sites.
Ludo King
Ludo King was launched in 2016, but it became one of the top five most installed mobile games in April 2020. Developed by Mumbai studio Gametion Technologies Pvt Ltd, it brought the childhood classic board game alive on mobiles. Ludo King surpassed Candy Crush Saga, PUBG, Clash of Clans, Subway Surfers, Temple Run, and others in monthly active users in India. Its current version features a new fun mask mode.
Pokemon Go
In 2020, Pokemon Go’s revenue went up by 31.5%. Pokemon Go Fest held on July 17 and 18, 2021 grossed 21 million dollars as people all over the world chased brightly coloured virtual animals and caught 1.5 billion of them.
