Two scholarships for students who want to study engineering or other technical courses

In India, pursuing engineering or a diploma in any technology-based course after higher secondary is a popular career choice for many youngsters. However, eligible and meritorious students often can’t afford these options as reputed institutes offering these courses are expensive in most cases. This is why, every year, the government as well as corporates offer scholarships to meritorious students from the unprivileged sections of the society. Here, we tell you about two scholarships offered by private institutes Shriram Transport Finance Company (STFC) and Keep India Smiling Foundation to undergraduate engineering and technical diploma aspirants. 

STFC India Meritorious Scholarship 2021-22

Shriram Transport Finance Company (STFC) India has declared a scholarship programme to offer financial support to meritorious Indian students belonging to underprivileged background or the ones who are the wards of commercial transport owners or drivers.  

STFC is one of India’s largest non-banking financial companies and it aims at providing monetary aid to candidates aspiring to study undergraduate courses. This scholarship is for one or more years depending on the time span of the professional college courses in India.  

Eligibility criteria 

Candidates need to be Indian nationals with valid identity proofs. 

Candidates need to have secured 60% or more in their class 10 and 12 board exams. 

Candidates must take admission in minimum 1-year ITI/Polytechnic/Technical Diploma courses or 3 to 4 years undergraduate engineering courses in recognised Indian universities. 

Candidates must belong to underprivileged families or should be children of commercial transport employees with annual family income less than 4 lakh.  

Benefits 

ITI/Polytechnic/Diploma students will receive up to INR 15,000 per annum for a period of 1 year. 

Undergraduate engineering students will receive up to INR 30,000 to 35,000 per annum for a period of 3 to 4 years until the completion of the course.

Keep India Smiling Foundational Scholarship 2021-22

Keep India Smiling Foundation has announced a scholarship programme to provide assistance to young meritorious Indian individuals in the form of financial aid, mentorship and career guidance. It is applicable for only those candidates who belong to underprivileged background.  

Eligibility criteria 

Candidates need to be Indian nationals with valid identity proofs. 

Candidates need to have passed their class 12 board exams in 2021 with minimum 60% or above. 

Candidates must secure admission in any 3–4-year undergraduate engineering programme or any 1–2-year technical diploma programme in any recognised Indian universities.  

Candidates must belong to underprivileged families with annual family income less than 5 lakhs annually.  

Benefits 

Diploma candidates will receive INR 30,000 per year for a period of 3 years.  

Undergraduate engineering candidates will receive INR 35,000 per year for a period of 4 years.
