PUBG: New State crossed 1 million downloads on the day of its release. This is big news for India for a number of reasons, the main being Krafton’s new partnership with Sony Music India. The game would now have special Indian content, boast of tie-ups with Indian influencers and challenges with the promise of more prizes to be won, of course.
Who are the Indians abroad PUBG: New State?
Popular artist Badshah made his new party song ‘Bad Boy x Bad Girl’ for PUBG! If that is surprising, we should not forget that Nikita Gandhi and Indian rapper Raftaar are also part of the PUBG universe now. Krafton sponsored a dance competition with Raftaar’s tracks, with the winning stakes rising to about INR 3,74,000 – in Google Play gift cards. Two trending tags on Instagram, #NewStateStyle and #PUBGNewState, are a result of these competitors uploading their dance moves to win the PUBG showdown. Additionally, Krafton is about to launch a new three-part web series, the ‘New State Chronicles,’ this December. The show will be a mix of documentary, road show and reality show with Indian celebrities and influencers ranging from The Great Khali, The Sound Blaze, Scout, and others lined up for it.
Other Indian social media celebrities like Bhuvan Bam, the Comedy Factory, and Focused Indian will also join in, though they will endorse it through their own YouTube channels.
What is the New State all about?
Set in the future, PUBG: New State is supposedly happening on planet Earth in the year 2051. It’s a sequel to the popular PUBG series of battle royale games. 100 players are placed on an island called TROI. They have to gather supplies and fight, just like other games. The last man left standing is the winner. Unlike other PUBG games, this one got a lot of negative comments form users too at the launch. It had a lot of bugs to fixed and even hung mobile phones, irritating users. Remains to be seen exactly what the impact of the PUBG Indian content is going to be this year-end.
