Gaming, is no longer just a pastime for youngsters. Rather, it is a learning and earning opportunity, thanks to today’s tech-driven world. In fact, online gaming acts as the ultimate booster for multiple real-life skills such as logical reasoning, problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making and creativity and also offers students an alternative career path. Keeping this in mind, HT School joined hands with popular YouTube channel Total Gaming to conduct an online gaming workshop for students, Get Set Gaming. Held on 28th August, it was hosted by none other than Ajju Bhai (Ajay), a gaming influencer and the person behind Total Gaming. The webinar received more than 12500 registrations. It was broadcast live on HT School’s YouTube channel with more than 5000 live viewership and a total of 19,000 watches.
“I had a great experience hosting Get Set Gaming. It felt good to share my gaming experience with students. I am sure they had a fun time learning how to be a gaming YouTuber,” shared Ajju Bhai.
‘Get Set Gaming’ did exactly what it was designed to do—training school students on the A to Z of gaming and enabling them to turn into avid gaming influencers, with Ajju Bhai offering an insight into the world of gaming. He shed light on how the quality of game matters over everything else while teaching gaming enthusiasts the tricks of creating videos on YouTube aside from developing a fan base across other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Karandeep Singh, a Grade VII student of St. Mark’s Sr. Sec. Public School, Delhi, shared his experience post the workshop saying, “For a student who wishes to pursue a career in gaming, this workshop was the perfect learning avenue. The way Ajay Sir explained the tremendous opportunities that gaming can give; I am very sure I will join the industry.”
Talking about the essential skills required to become a gaming influencer, Ajju Bhai strongly emphasised upon developing one’s communication skills and patience apart from the art of gaming itself. He also that collaboration with other gamers is crucial.
While Mehul Verma, a student of Springdales School, Pusa Road, deemed the workshop as an informative and helpful experience, Mayank Raj Sharma of DPS Mathura Road said that the webinar revealed a very happy side of him that he seldom gets to explore.
The trick to create the perfect social media gaming content lies in focussing on the quality and trending topics, apart from trying out new gaming platforms and creating a fixed timetable. Ajju Bhai advised the students to begin with OBS for building gaming handles and pages from scratch. This is a free and open-source solution for offline video recording and live streaming as well. The key is to take one game at a time.
“A workshop like this allows my generation to explore unconventional careers. It was an amazing experience to watch it live while also gaining information on how to turn something you love doing into a career,” said Harjas Kaur Bedi, a Grade XI student of Mount Carmel School.
Ajju Bhai shared his valuable tips on how to earn from gaming. He advised the participants to stay active on all platforms and wait for their first viral video which will open up the earning options through monetizable ads. Increasing viewership and building a stable audience is the secret behind attracting sponsors, observed Ajju Bhai.
Shreyan Sahoo, a student of Ryan International School shared his experience of Get Set Gaming, saying, “The Gaming workshop was a life-changing experience for me. It really transformed my imagination and broadened my horizons. I feel completely energised and ready to create wonderful new things.”
Ajju Bhai wrapped up the session with an overview on the future of gaming and said it looked very promising. He advised the students to not overdo gaming and balance it with studies. According to him, 1 hour of gaming every day is enough for school students that will help sharpen their mind.
Sharing her thoughts after the workshop, Roopali Dhawan, Head, HT Education, said, “In today's time, it is critical to empower students with skills to ensure they can take the world head on. Online gaming can teach students logical reasoning, creativity, life skills and multi-tasking all at the same time. Get Set Gaming was conceived to help students get one step closer to realizing their dream of becoming a gamer. It introduced students to several ideas and strategies that can help them build a thriving career in gaming on social media. Let's say this is just the beginning and we are all set to grow at HT School, onwards and upwards.”
