Happy Father’s Day 2021: Celebrating dads in lockdown

A father is the torchbearer of a child’s life. Kids look up to their dads for inspiration, security and love. The role of a father in the life of children doesn’t need to be reiterated. Dads are the eternal superheroes that children hero worship. In order to pay tribute to fathers and the role they play in shaping the future of their kids, the third Sunday of June is celebrated as Father’s Day in most countries. In the new normal of COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown imposed by it, the celebration of this special day may not be the usual fun that includes outdoor activities. However, as we celebrate Father’s Day today, all you mommies can encourage your kids to spend quality time with dads with these activities.  

Movie Marathon 
Encourage your kiddo plan a movie marathon with dad on Father’s Day. Help her curate dad’s favourite movies and genres, be it sports personalities, horror stories, mysteries, detectives, or psychological thrillers. Get the popcorn ready and let both of them enjoy this together time.  

Board-Game Night 
Fathers were also once children and like any other children, they also played board games and card games in their youth with friends. Encourage your children to learn the popular games from your time and celebrate Father’s Day with a throwback game night. Teach them the rules of fun games their father loved as a child.  

Cooking Together 
All dads have that one ridiculous dish that nobody else in the family likes. Mothers don’t like making it, children don’t like eating it, but fathers love it too much for anyone to say no to. This Father’s Day, encourage your child to cook that favourite dish of dad. It’s best if they cook together. It can be a great bonding experience.  

DIY gifts for Dad 
The best gifts are those that have a personal touch. Encourage your children to put in efforts and present a home-made gift to their father instead of spending their saved-up pocket money to buy something expensive. It can be anything from a collage of family photos to a handmade card or a self-created painting If your child has a propensity for music, help her write a short song and sing it for dad.
