A few months of use and the number of hours we can go before plugging the charger in starts decreasing. If you want your children to hold on to their phones for longer than a year, then you need to make sure that the battery of the phone doesn’t die out quickly. Here are a few tips on how your kids can save battery and prolong the life of their mobile devices.
Teach your kids about the battery optimization feature
The latest android phones have a battery optimization feature, also known as the power-saving mode. It lets the user choose whether the OS is running at full capacity, in optimized mode, medium or maximum power saving mode. With the help of this feature, an android phone automatically closes background tasks and data usage to give a longer battery life.
Tell them about screen brightness
The biggest thing that eats up the battery power is the screen lighting. The higher the brightness is, the harder is the work of the battery. Turning the phone to automatic brightness, or manually keeping the phone at a lower brightness level can make a big difference in battery life.
Let kids learn to use screen time-out
Another way to prevent screen illumination from eating up the battery is to make sure that the screen turns off quickly when the phone is not in use or on standby. Under settings, there is a screen-timeout option which will automatically turn the screen off after a certain length of inactivity. Teach your youngster to keep it as minimum as possible. The time should be set in such a way that screen doesn’t go blank while still in use.
Make them aware of unused apps and multiple accounts
A lot of the times youngsters download an application they find interesting. However, they leave it unused. In some cases, an application loses its relevance also after a point of time but they keep it installed on our phone anyway. The upkeep of these apps also takes a lot of battery power. Additionally, they staying logged on to multiple accounts on their android phone, which leads to high battery consumption. Encourage your kids to clear out the clutter.
Warn kids against battery saver apps
A lot of task killer or RAM cleaner apps on the Play Store seem like lucrative options for enhancing battery life. But it in the end, these apps take power to run and all the background apps that get “killed” are just woken up again by the system. This takes even more power. The only battery optimization we need is already in-built in our device.
