Here are some tips that might help youngsters who are about to appear for their first internship interview. 

Test internet connection and configuration of the system  
A sound internet connection is the key requirement to appear for a virtual internship interview. Moreover, your youngster needs to be well-acquainted with the platform on which the interview will be conducted and it needs to be properly configured on the device that will be used. These are required to ensure the process is smooth. A poor internet connection will disrupt the audio and video quality, which is not desired, for sure. Before the actual interview, do a mock drill with your kid using the same platform to check if all the features are functioning properly, as well as the audio and video quality.  

Check up the lighting in your room 

Like an in-person interview, in a virtual interview also the recruiter is keen on observing the body language of the candidate. So, your youngster needs to sit in a well-lit area during the interview. A decent lighting setup will also enhance the communication quality by making the gestures and non-verbal clues clearly visible. On the other hand, if the area is dark, the whole ambience will look very unprofessional. Hence, ensure that the right amount of light is on your kid’s face. Decent lighting gives the recruiter a sense that the candidate has come prepared. 

Dress appropriately for the profile 
Remember that a virtual internship interview is almost the same as an interview, after all. The mode of conducting the interview and assigning you any task therein has changed. Hence, do not take the risk of wearing casuals or appearing for the virtual internship interview in your nightwear. Dress up formally and appropriately as you would have in case for a regular, offline interaction. Wear light coloured, comfortable fit clothing that allows you to move your hands, feet, etc. freely.
